The Food Choices to Maintaining Healthy Vision

Our eyes need proper nutrition and care for their health maintained. I have searching for some resources and then I found there are at least, 10 choices of nutritious foods that are beneficial for maintaining healthy eyes.

1. Carrots

Carrots are rich in beta carotene. Beta carotene is converted by the body into vitamin A which plays an important role for our eyes. Carrots also can help our body to release free radicals.

2. Broccoli

This vegetable is rich in vitamins and nutrients needed eye, such as vitamin C, calcium, lutein, zeaxanthin, and sulforaphane. Broccoli can prevent breast cancer and as an antioxidant. Adding broccoli in the daily menu can also nourish the eyes.

3. Garlic

Garlic contains selenium and other nutrients that are good for the eyes, such as vitamin C and quercetin. Despite the sharp scent, garlic has many benefits for the organ, not only effective in preventing stroke for example.


4. Avocado

Avocados are nutrient dense and well proven for eye health. Moreover, avocados contain more lutein than any other fruit. Lutein is important for preventing macular degeneration (a decrease in visual acuity) and cataracts. Avocados are also an important source of nutrients for the eye such as vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B6, and vitamin E.

5. Eggs

Eggs are rich in nutrients for eye health care, such as vitamin A, zinc, lutein, lecithin, B12, vitamin D, and cysteine. Besides it can meet the daily intake of protein, eggs are also good to nourish our eyes.

6. Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds contain selenium, a nutrient that can prevent cataracts and eye health in general.

7. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are good for skin health, but also have many benefits for the eyes. Tomatoes are rich in vitamin C and lycopene, two nutrients that are vital to the eye.

8. Spinach

Vitamin A is good for the eyes and we can also obtained it from spinach. Beside rich in vitamin A, spinach also contains nutrients that are good for the eyes such as lutein and zeaxathin.

Omega 3 contained in the real salmon is also good for eye health. Salmon also contains folic acid, vitamin D, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and vitamin A.

10. Cabbage

This kind of vegetables is not recommended for ulcer patients because of it contains of high gas content. But to treat the eye, cabbage is well and contain the same nutrients as spinach.
