Is it Safe to do Exercise on an Empty Stomach?

In intention to burn more fat, many people choose not to fill their stomach when trying to exercise. Is it safe and healthy?

According to Michele Stanten, Prevention Fitness Director, this is still okay but do not expect we’re going to burn more fat.

A study proves, people who exercise on an empty stomach only burn less fat than people who fill their stomach 1-2 hours before exercise

Stanten, the certified fitness instructor then explained, if we do exercise with empty stomachs, we are only able to walk 30-40 minutes. “But everyone has their own levels,” she said. To find the right size, Stanten suggesting us to do small-scale trials.

The trick, try to eat snacks that are 200 calorie content. Can be a cracker, wheat bread, banana with one tablespoon of peanut butter, or low-fat cheese. After that, observe how strong we are doing sports. Then compare what happens when we do not eat at all before the sports.

“Usually when we do not fill the stomach before exercise, we will eat more after exercise. Eventually we only gain more calories than are burned, “she said.
We absolutely do not want this to happen right? :)
